Celine in Vogue

Whilst looking through this month’s Vogue, the Celine Summer campaign really caught my eye. I love the block colour contrast between the bright background and the model. The campaign has gone for an effortless, simplistic look. The model looks as if she was cut out and stuck on the bold block background. Photographer Juergen Teller has really captured the message that the collection is trying to portray.

“It’s about taking her out of urban life and putting her feet on the sand. It’s where I long to be, more and more,” said Phoebe Philo in her debrief about Céline. She continued; “I am somebody who is interested in how clothes make us feel,” she said, “and in how we behave in different places. I thought, If you were traveling for a year, what would you need to take with you?”

The collection showcased lots of lace, neutral colours and relaxed silhouettes. We saw rounded sloping shoulders and poofy sleeves. The collection was oversized yet feminine as the waistlines were often accentuated.

The concept of the campaign was very clear and consistent not only within the pieces, but also in the conceptual tent setting.
